Publications
Think tanks of the Eastern Partnership Think Tank Network are encouraged to submit publications that have been (co-)written by them. The aim is to feature relevant policy papers and to feed into discussion on the EU’s Eastern neighborhood and accession policies, as well as regional and country developments on the relevant topics for the region and network. Before submitting a publication, please consult the guidelines below and ensure that the submission fulfills the criteria and is suitable. After you have entered all the required information and submitted your publication, we will review it and – given that it is relevant – upload it to the website. Please note that for the moment, we limit the number of submissions that we can upload to one publication per member a month.
The publications section is part of DGAP’s Think Tank Network on the Eastern Partnership, which is implemented with the support of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR). Foreign Policy Implications of Trump’s Return and Germany’s Coalition Collapse. Ukraine As the First Victim
Change, instability, and transition will characterize the foreign policy environment over the coming months as politicians and citizens grapple with the reverberations of a double-whammy shaking the Western world: the United States, the globe’s premiere power, will once again be led by Donald J. Trump, the country’s chief disrupter, while Germany, Europe’s largest power, has to contend with a tumultuous collapse of its coalition government and an unclear path to new elections. Both events are bound to trigger consequences further afield.
Moldova’s Presidential Elections and EU Referendum: A Critical Moment
On October 20, Moldovans will vote in both presidential elections and a constitutional referendum on EU integration. These elections are critical as they will set the stage for the 2025 parliamentary elections and indicate the level of support for President Maia Sandu and her liberal, pro-EU Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). The outcome will also reflect public opinion on Moldova’s EU integration efforts, which have been central to Sandu's agenda. Despite achievements in governance, the PAS government faces criticism for falling short of building social cohesion and delivering all promised reforms. The EU can support Moldova by focusing on economic development and stability, job creation, enhancing administrative capacity, and supporting Moldova’s resilience against Russian hybrid threats.
Call for the EU to Act Now to Sanction the Violent Regime in Georgia
European think tank leaders demand urgent EU sanctions on Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream government for election fraud, violence against civil society, and stalling EU integration. They urge action by December 16, warning that inaction risks Georgia’s slide into authoritarianism and undermines EU credibility. “Every day, Georgians fight for their European future,” the letter states, calling on the EU to stand firmly for democracy and human rights in its neighborhood.
