Moldova stands at a pivotal moment in its European trajectory. Following the country's EU membership application in March 2022 and the subsequent granting of candidate status, Moldova has launched an ambitious reform agenda while navigating complex geopolitical pressures. The upcoming elections will represent another test of Moldova’s resilience, as Russia-backed actors seek to gain influence in the new parliament. Based on the experience of last year’s presidential elections and the EU referendum, Moldova should be prepared for significant external interference and hybrid disruptions.

Meanwhile, Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine has further highlighted Moldova's strategic importance for the EU and the urgency of its European integration to stabilize the country.
